new to yak fishing. got a ride 135 and about to install a ff and had a couple of questions.

#1: what transducer install method works for you?  anyone using the wet method?  what about scupper installs?

#2: what battery configuration works for you?  heard of several using deer feeder batteries in waterproof cases, but seems hard to find locally.

thanks.

I have used 3 different methods of transducer install,  wet, thru hull glued in, and scupper mount.

Wet, is my least fav cause you gotta make sure it's wet, but then it is removable, and works pretty well.

Glued in thru hull, was the least trouble if you have it in a protected spot, also worked well.

Scupper mount is best for signal (IMO) but on mine it does protrude from the hull a bit, it's in a spot not likely to contact anything but still a concern.

To me, without any real data, shooting a signal thru a plastic hull, (down and back) has got to degrade it somewhat when compared to a transducer that's in the water like a scupper mount or any other type of mount outside the hull.

each has it's merits.

Did you cover up the scupper preventing water to drain out or did you use the other method of using an open tube pvc/pipe so that water can still drain?  if the latter, i'm wondering if the air bubbles that drain with the water cause any reading discrepancies.

any concerns with the transducer possibly getting damaged or caught on anything since its protruding?  for example sliding it on a roof rack or on the sand.  my presumption is its just something to keep in mind when dragging or sliding.
