My wife's cousin is visiting and he would like to fish Lewiston Lake.
I am new to kayak fishing, he has done quite a bit of it in Virginia in a sit inside kayak on small rivers and inlets.

Any tips for fishing Lewiston Lake or other lakes in the area (Trinity, Whiskeytown, Kenswick)?

Trinity,
north end is good for spotted bass
by the dam had produced record king salmon and Kokanee

Whiskeytown
Above the Carr powerhouse is full of Brooke trout.
299 bridge is producing Kokanee down around 60' and the dam is always good for Kokanee or if your lucky king salmon. Bass are big in there but hard to catch.

Keswick
Nice brown trout but its a long paddle up to them. Don't eat anything out of Keswick. There's bass in there too but not worth it unless its a holiday weekend.

Lewiston
Not too familiar with Lewiston, never Been there but heard there's brown up under the dam and rainbows in the main body. It's cold year round like keswik so not crowded with wakeboards and jet skies.

Shasta
Bass bass bass, $10 a day ramp fee if you launch at a boat ramp, you can use minnows and there's bass almost everywhere. Try jones valley and paddle a little bit up the pit arm.

Sounds like Lewiston is the place for us to try. I'll slip my wife's wedding ring off her finger while she sleeps, attach 24" 6lb fluro with a no 4 hook with a night crawler attached.  Can I tell her you said it was needed for us to catch fish?  It is HER cousin, after all.

Lewiston is the outlet from Trinity lake's power house.  It's more of a fat river than a lake.  I've camped there once many moons ago for a week, wasn't too lucky while trolling in my 12' alum. boat then.  Left puddles of drool on the floors at the fish hatchery at the south end! :smt044.

Did notice the water level at our campsite fluctuated about a 1.5' each day.
