-----------------
Went out to Half Moon Bay today to test out a fish finder and a barbie pole+buzz bomb combo.  Spent more time staring at the fish finder trying to figure out why I wasn't catching fish than finding reefs by sight.
Wound up going home with less than when I went out without a fish finder... d=  Damn you technology.

Found some weird baitfish, would love if someone could point out what they were.  Guessing lizard fish or something?

They had lots of sharp triangle shaped teeth.  Thought they were anchovies and they were everywhere.  Pelicans were diving all over the place for them as well.  Couldn't find any anchovy or smelt.

The buzz bombs work wonders!  Thank you to Lipripper for suggesting them to me awhile back.

I promptly lost this pig of a fish a few seconds after I turned the camera off...The big ones are so strong, had the hook out and it lipped, but it squirmed out of my grip >.<  Lost quite a few fish today, sometimes lost the entire set up outright.  Price you pay for running 8lb test and forgetting to lower the drag after working out snags :\

Finally caught my first cabezon from a kayak.  Got it on a yellow+red 5" buzz bomb.  Unfortunately it was only 13".  That makes like 7 cabezon I've caught that are all just barely under :[  One day I shall taste you, one day...

Still managed to do okay.  Went home with 3 blacks/blues and a large greenling.  Turned 'em into tacos!

Here's a playlist of everything that was worth mentioning.  Missed getting a 12" bullhead/scorpionfish(?) on film.  The horns on it were 2" long, scary thing.  GoPro malfunctioned :[

Sounds like Ariel with the AI fishing for Salmon there.  Thanks for the report and pictures Dennis.  You're a "brave" man that went out in the ocean alone and in short!

Hey Dennis,

great job on getting on the water and working out the kinks with your electronics; but I am alittle concerned about the attire you were wearing on the video.

Running solo and without a proper wetsuit (or drysuit) is asking for trouble. Might be a good next investment.

I've got a 4/3 wetsuit but feel like I'm in an oven in current weather. I'm thinking come winter I'll be wearing it though

Sounds like lizards.   :smt013   I'm getting really good at catching them down here.  Nice pix!  Thanks for the report.  I'm still trying to figure out my FF.   Sometimes I leave it in the car.  Sometimes I take it.   :smt001
