Looks like they are doing this just so that people from the surrounding areas will be appeased by the kills to avenge the death of this kid.  Do they not realize that some sharks will just come in and take their place when they are removed from that eco system...

Wow, I guess that's the going rate. 90 to 1 ratio. Personally, I would take the money invested into hunting and killing sharks and put it into researching proper deterrents and increasing communication when sharks are near - but hey lets grab our pitch forks and torches and kill us some sharks!

They would probably use the research to close the beach. 

There's a reason why the bear on our flag is extinct, but I bet the ratio was a heck of a lot higher that 90:1.

Suppose they wipe out the biggest 90 sharks...how long until the next ones move in? Months? Years?

Banning surfing does help- if your goal is to reduce shark attacks that is- which is what the governments goal is in this case.
