In Loving Memory of Mooch, Eelmaster, Shicken, and Cabeza De Martillo

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

I could look at these pics all day.   :smt003 :smt004 :smt003

I feel very grateful and fortunate...I have never had such high quality fishing/diving pics taken of me...to be able to share these with family and friends is truly special.

 :smt001

Thanks again bro!!!

Sincerely,

Jim

What kind of camera where you using?

Few people have asked this; quoted yours for reference.   :smt001

It's a quite older model dslr - the canon t2i... which is 2 generations old and of the lowest model of dslr that Canon makes.
But in UW photography, housing/ports tend to cost way more than the body, so I went with what I could get the best used deal on.

Using a Nauticam housing - very similar setup to my buddy Dam's, who took most of the pics in this thread:

For surface shots, it's really not a big deal - normal point&shoots can get a lot of clarity and color.
However, as light drops (such as UW), the P&S sensors are a bit small to keep up and images get noisy/grainy.
I've spent years trying to make do with various "cutting edge" P&S's and finally gave in.
Wish I would have done it sooner.

This was my first time using the camera, so I had to learn some focus nuances and bunch of other random issues.
Figured I'd switch to a new challenge in diving - looking forward to the good winter vis and taking a lot more pictures!    :smt003

Oh Now you did it,
Now I got the bug to try out all that diving gear I have been sitting on for the last year :smt012
When I tried last year the visibility was way less than in these pics.
I will get out before GS or there will be a great deal on some new gear

I remember that day!
I didn't even realize that was you paddling past me looking all green in the face until I ran into Bryan.   :smt005

Definitely wasn't the best day/conditions/area to get reacquainted with diving.  ;)
