When I pump air into my wheel, it hisses out from the bottom of the valve under the hole in the grey stuff that allows the valve to exit.  The valve is of different material than the tire.  I'll call Wheeleez, but I'm hoping I'm just missing an easy fix that one you have made before.

Thanks Krusty.  I just wish my problem was so simple - I've actually done that repair before.  My leak is someplace between the base of the stem and the gray tire.  It will hold 1 1/2 lbs pressure, but no more.  If my choice comes down to buying a new tire, I just might shoot some goop around the base of the stem - it should hold 3 lbs pressure.

it the hole is actually on the tire itself and not inside the valve stem, you can use a soldering iron to melt/weld the hole shut. just take it slow and be careful to apply to much pressure or you'll burn a bigger hole right thru it.

However, if you tires are still under warranty, call Wheeleeze up and see if they will warrenty it; worth a shot.

Also read up on website how to repair the tires; and do a google search for vids on how to repair them.

Good luck!!!

If the hole is out of reach of the soldering iron, you can try buying a tube of slime and filling your tire with it. The liquid will seal the hole from the inside. Not sure if goop will work on flexible rubber. Good luck.

I think I've fixed it.   I couldn't figure why one tire couldn't get above 1.5 and the other above 2.0, no matter how I pumped, even using plastic exstentions on the stem - air seemed to be leaking from between the base of the stem and the gray tire.   I decided to replace the valve cores, and sure enough, they were sticky- they wouldn't open enough to let air in, but also didn't let it out.  When I took out the core, the tire deflated.  Put new ones in, and it pumped up fine, and air did not seem to be coming out near the bottom of the base.
Lesson: if it won't hold air, replace stem cores.  If it won't pump up or any other problem in the valve area, replace cores, then proceed.
I can only imagine that enough water seeped in to corrode the stems, maybe they just got old, sitting in my hot garage for years.
   Thanks for your suggestions.
