By the time I left a little after noon, I don't think any of the kayak anglers stuck any butts.  I hook a couple of 25" lings though, so at least there was something biting.

Wow,,, guess I didn't miss anything.       Almost made it , couldn't sleep, was up till nearly 2am

Think I'll try Moss Landing in the morning.     Anybody fished there recently? ( for butts )

Tough day. I think Won and I are the last ones who went back in. No butts, few RF. I'm still chilling at a rest area somewhere in 280. Better safe than sorry.

I went out about 7 the day before, bounce balled a B2 squid until about 9:30 when chop, which was more than I expected, 10 at 10, started to roll over more and a little wind started up.  I got only managed one blue rockfish.  Several PB's out there by the Mile Buoy, didn't see anyone catch anything.
Today I was watching the fish checkers, and saw one medium butt, but several skunks.

BTW, there is hard bait showing now, pinner chovies in the harbor and 5 inchers out front on the grounds.  The water temps are 58-59.  Things should go off any day now ...

Very tough day indeed.  Drifted for butts for few hours with live anchovies courtesy of Tim...thanks again Tim.  Croakers kept stealing the bait and then I got that rod thump..the thump of a crazy little 6" cabbie trying to eat the 5" chovy.  No butts for me either.   Great weather though, Herb and I were out til 2.  I only managed 5 decent browns and threw back 2 small ones.

Wasn't expecting any fish as I was playing with the new FF a lot today.  Still have a lot to learn, but I did mange to find a few school of fish on my own today.   :smt044

There was actually a kayaker ( I think local) who caught a Hali near the kelp by the pier. I didn't see the whole fish just the tail (it was in a deep clothes hamper) he said he caught it on shrimp fly.

No butt for me today either.  Caught and released a couple Blacks since I want to troll for Hali with 2 rods.  It's a nice day with slow drift until the afternoon. Some OIW pictures...

Had about the same luck over in Capitola as you guys in SC.  Did catch several rockfish though; canery, browns, olive, and several blacks.  However I do have what is left of a swimbait that i'm certain was attacked by a halibut.  Left the classic racked teeth marks in the body of the bait.  So i'm sure there are some out there.  :smt002
