My wife and I went up to FR on Wednesday we arrived and set up camp and headed out to fish about 4:00 PM.  we stayed a few hours.  it was slow but I did catch a number of blues and gophers.  I also dropped a crab trap on my way out and nabbed a couple of nice rock crab.  I was happily reeling in a fish when my wife noticed that my paddle was drifting away.  She paddled over to grab it but it came apart...one side filled with water and sank into the abyss!  I usually keep a spare in my hatch.  This time I only kept one half.  You guessed both side were female...sheesh!  so I was paddling 'canoe style'  Then I was tugging my pole to break loose a snag when the wooden handle of my rod snapped in two (it is an old, cheap rod).  I was able to use a piece of the broken rod handle to shove in both (female) ends of my paddle...Now I'm back in 'kayak paddle' business.  As I was landing I jumped up to grab the bowline (to drag the boat up on the beach) when another wave hit and rolled my yak.  I thought that it snapped my pole but it didn't...it dumped everything but only broke my net.

FF to This morning.

It started a little slow but I caught a nice cabezon and tossed back some blues and gophers.  Then I found the spot and doubled on chilipeppers and a couple of nice vermillion.  Today things were much more smooth.  Nice paddleing, nice fish and no mishaps and a dry landing.

We had a great time.

Oh, 95% of the fish were caught on an orange shrimp fly
