What they said. If you don't catch fish with those suggestions there are not any there. Add Big Hammer 6" and your done. Tip your rigs with the squid, or you some type of gel or oil on the baits.

Big Hammer is 5.5" or 6.5".   :smt002

In addition to the soft swimbaits I would get some 2 and 3 oz P-Line lazer minnow jigs. Put a dropper 2ft loop above all bottom baits and attach a shrimp fly or a squid imitation. I like to use pro cure herring gel on all artificial baits. When fishing the swimbaits alone on the bottom you really need 30-40 lb braided line with a 30lb leader 4-5 ft long tied with an uni 2 uni knot to the braid. Bounce the jig head on the bottom and lift quickly. Lower to fell the bottom again. Keep this constant bouncing and rapid lifting and you will entice the larger lings to bite. Good Luck

You guys really use that much lead; 4 to 6 ounces?  I've mostly used 2 to 3 ounces.  What's the extra weight do for the fishing?

sometimes the current or drift is too fast and need weight to get it down. besides it seems that it does not get stuck as much on the rocks.

Agreed. I never use less than 4 regardless of the drift.

I only use 4 oz heads too.

My suggestion would be a 4 oz scampi head and some berkley havoc tubes or other 4" bass tubes. You won't regret trying it.
