Here's a report from the SLO area......Got to Leffingwell at 630 and most of the fleet was already starting to launch, probably 15-20 boats.  Weather was overcast with just a slight breeze.  We unloaded and rigged up and were on the water by 700.  Easy launch and made our way out to the grounds.  Nice glassy water with a mellow little swell.  KennyKayak nailed a huge Verm on his first drop, 8.3 lbs.!  Had steady fishing all day, with a lot of blacks and blues mixed in with some nice Lings and Reds.  Also got some browns, coppers, and johnny bass.  Easy limits.  Enjoyed chatting with few others guys out there and seeing so many others show up.  Best day OTW I've had so far this season......

Next day we got to Spooners at 630 to find the cove glassy with no wind.  Another easy launch and we headed out just north of the cove.  My friend Chad was the first to bring one in, on his first drop along a small kelp patty.  A nice Ling, followed by a b&y.  Weather was perfect, but the fishing was fairly slow.  No limits this day, but we all managed to bring in some nice fish.  A couple of lings, a decent size red, and a mixture of gophers and b&y's.....  The whales were out, passing us in the distance and Virg's was hopping from reef to reef in about 60-80 feet of water.  No other yakkers out with us, but there were 2 Virg's boats along with a few other private craft.  The Cab in the pic below was just shy of 8 lbs.  All and all another great day OTW......

Thank you for the report and beautiful photos of quality fish. Montana de Oro is my favorite central Cal spots I use to do solo camping/kayak fishing trips there every other months from 98 to 2004. Reading about your trip brought back precious memories for me. Hoping to get back there and fish that area.

Thanks

I love de oro!!!! Especially when there's topless college girls on the beach. I'll be down there next month still trying to figure out how to get my yak down there with me.
