Someone on Coastside reported that his kid caught this 23.5lbs and @39" long butt last Saturday at the Alameda Rockwall using a broken back Rebel.  The Rockwall is usually good early in the season.

I might have to troll or drift my favorite spots at the Rockwall this week.  Anyone interested?

That sounds better than getting seasick chasing salmon in the ocean. Maybe if I am lucky, I can get back on the water this weekend.

Brian,

Try Phenergan.  I am quite possibly the most seasick prone person in the world and it is a wonder drug.

Just be sure to take caffiene with it as it will make you a tad drowsy.

Cool... I didn't know Phenergan was used to prevent motion sickness, but I looked it up and Mol's right.  I'll have to try it the next time I hit the ocean.  My perscription (to suppress coughs) also contains Codine, so I'll have to be sure not to take too much.

Chuck,

It is an absolute miricle.  I had previously tried everything out there

Bonine
Dramamine
Scopolomine (ear patch)
lots of alcohol
"herbal" treatment
pressure bracelets.

All of it.  And I was still at the rail every 15 minutes on the 15 minutes.

I gave up fishing in the ocean.  Then a navy buddy of mine told me to try phenergan.  Its a prescription however.

The darkness was swept away to reveal the bright shining light.  I was able to go offshore and chase yellowtail and hit up the kelp with no sickness.  NONE!!  Hallelujah!!

Now, it is not without its drawbacks.  It is a depresant, so you will need to take some caffiene with it (I just pop a vivarin with the phenergan.  The military actually give you methamphetamine with it....) And you really need to watch your alcohol intake.  More than a couple of beers will really get you drowsy and I would not use ANY alcohol if I was driving the boat or driving home.  It also makes you a tad more sun sensitive so pile on the sunblock.

Other than that, it is just awesome.

My mom's a doctor, so I'll have her get a bunch for my dad (who's a puker) and I'll try it this summer when he comes out to visit.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Mike, as for now, I'm considering Thursday if weather improves and the wind dies down.  The Rockwall is usually better in the morning, but the more favorable weaker tides are later in the afternoon, so it's really not ideal this week.  But,  I'm still keeping an eye on the weather and will probably make a decision later on Wed.  Saturday is more likely if I don't go out for the salmon opener.
