Don't know if this was posted already. Kudos to the guy in the boat, it could have turned out differently.

That was spooky. Guy in the water was pretty close to meeting his maker. Props to the boater.

Nice post Ted - The person being rescued is reckless and hardheaded. He should have jumped into the boat first then deal with retrieving his gear.  Your life is important than any kayak and fishing gear.

I would have given stern orders to the guy in the kayak either let go of the kayak or I'm leaving you. No kayak is worth your life and it DEFINITELY isn't worth mine.
Props to the guy in the boat. From their personalities it seems it's usually the other way around.
Sure that boater isn't part of NWKA????
Thanks for posting. I haven't seen it before.

Wow!  I grew up less than a couple of miles from that lake.  Spent many an evening as a kid trolling for planters from an inflatable.

The kayaker sure shows the signs of hypothermia, even when they first contact.  Likely why he could not make the proper decision on what to do.  He was not able to reason at that point and had to be told what to do.  The boater definitely saved the day.  I would say I am surprised someone else did not help, but really I am not  :smt009

Great video, thanks for sharing.

Why he chose not to get on a dry boat is beyond me. Perhaps hypothermia was affecting his decision making?

That was grueling to watch. If it wasn't hypothermia, the guy was moron.
Big props to the the boater.
Please, let's not see/hear more stories like this. All completely preventable.

A properly fitted PFD will save your life. It seems like this guy was a bit out of it and couldn't think clearly. What bothers me the most is the other boat not coming to help. WTF is wrong wrong with people.

That boater is a true hero. I can't imagine what the outcome would have been if that was still water and there were swells and wind. It's also hard to beleive that there were also other boaters around and they did not even attempt to help out. If I ever meet that hero, I'd surely give him a beer.
