Nice post, Jim. The pics of your adorable little girl remind me of when my two girls would help Daddy with projects -- treasured moments of 40 years ago. I mounted my Lowrance Mark 4 in a similar fashion with duct seal and a RAM mount and am quite happy with it. Congrats on the new rigging.

You drag your yak over rock and boulders.you must get those things (yaks)for a really good price  :smt003
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

LOL.

Even many of the most sandy beaches can get eroded and turn into boulder fields during winter...if you launch or land alone you will inevitabily have to drag the yak across some rocks.

Awesome set up. How does it paddle? How is the speed and stability? Jackson Kayaks are definitely making a huge spash. It seems like most people I know are getting them these days.

Thanks dude!

I think it paddles very well, and it is nice and stable.  I have found that it makes a great dive platform and it is easy to jump on and off.   :smt001

Up at Shelter Cove I had to battle some serious wind to make it back in on Friday...and it was tough for sure, but thought the Cuda handled it great.

I find it is plenty fast enough for me, but I have not timed myself nor do I think I am a very fast paddler on any kayak.  :smt005

I'm scoping out my next kayak to add to my fleet. Need to convince the Wife that I "need it" first. I'm torn between the new Jackson Cuda 14 (updates for 2013 are awesome) and the new Eddyline Caribbean 14. Will probably be another 6 to 12 months before the wife concedes, but I'm already thinking about it.

Those eddylines look super sweet as well!

If you are considering a JK you are welcome to demo mine whenever you want if you ever make it down towards Monterey!

I am excited to see what JK comes up with now that Jim Sammons is on board, whether it be additional improvements to the Cuda or a whole new boat geared specifically for offshore stuff.  :smt004

I know... JK has pretty much thought of everything. Thanks for the offer. I typically go down to SWS with FishComb and DropNLax. May take you up on it. How does the low position feel on the seat. Do you feel like you are low enough? I may also try test paddling it Cal Canoe and Kayak in Oakland. That 52lb empty hull weight on the Caribbean 14 is so sweet though.

I can tell I am a little higher than in a "regular" seat, but really not much. I still feel totally stable.

I AM considering getting a slightly longer paddle to offset the little bit that I am raised over when I was paddling my T15.

Yeah, having a superlight yak like one of the eddylines is on my bucket list for sure.  :smt003  :smt007

Next time you are coming down to SWS just let me know and we'll see if we can hook up and you can paddle my Cuda and see how you like it.   :smt004

You can test it in Oakland of course...but SWS is prettier and the fishing is much better.   :smt002 :smt005
