Went out on my first Salmon charter today out of Bodega Bay. We ended up
With two fish 8-10lb range between five guys. They were coming in but the bite was slow overall.

The two we caught were on the inside at 120 feet we had few strikes at 100
But nothing at 80 and above. We ran herring most of the AM with no strikes as soon as we switched to artificial we landed the two fish.  I am not sure what the lure is called looks sort of like the cross between a rapla and a bent spoon. The pattern was watermelon (green, white & pink with black dots) did see a few other boats pulling up fish using flashers and over the radio some guys were having luck with hoochies.

Would love to get at again but not ready to hit it in a kayak yet. I am sure this is a longshot but If anyone is running a boat and wants someone to help cover fuel, bait and whatnot I would love to give it another run.

Hope everyone has a good season.

Phil

CSFC forum has a "hitchhiker" section, where you can usually find a ride for beers and some gas.....

That be the one. Not sure if it was working for anyone else but it was the only thing we dragged that they would bite.

Thanks for the Salmon fishing report Phil.  Hope the Salmons are coming closer within kayak range soon.

Thanks GWhiz and Sailfish. Haven't had a chance to fish with anyone here yet but everyone has been great in helping with questions so the least I can do is help with that little info I have!

Hope to hit the water with some of you soon but with baby #2 about to arrive I think my fishing time is about to go from slim to none. Fingers crossed for a good sleeper!

Seems like fish are in easy striking range on a yak up there right now

There are a few NCKAers who are duel-members of both clubs; and there's always someone looking for a crew on a PB:
