Elk is a small town on the Mendocino Coast.  The Elk tourney will be guranteed to be the high point of the season (unless you just got back from Baja like some people  :smt002).  Epic rockfishing...

Ben....they call it "ELK"  cause you'll need one to haul your kayak up the hill  :smt003 Seriously, make sure you have a kayak cart...or you can just give Brian G. a corona  :party and he'll gladly carry your yak up the hill for ya  :smt002....apparently coronas are hard to come by at Lodi  :smt011 (such a small town...the Truckers often miss it :smt003)

Hopefully my son will come with me. I'll try to get him to haul our kayaks. Threats or bribes...I'll find something to entice him.

Elk used to be called Greenwood, but years ago they discovered there was another town called Greenwood, so the Mendo Greenwood had to change their name, and they chose Elk. That is why there is a road that leads from Elk to Philo called Philo Greenwood Road. Just a little trivia about Greenwood.......I mean Elk.

CHEERS!

I was reading an earlier post from Sean where there was going to be a limit on how many yaks in the tournament. So, when and where do we sing-up?

I'm ready to go. That is the first weekend of my vacation this year.

Also, I know the State Parks Ranger turned DFG Warden in Elk. His name is Kevin Jo and he is actually a real nice guy. I'll have to get a hold of him and find out what his beef is with people fishing in his back yard. I'll keep you posted.

CHEERS!
