Yesterday every Gun related piece of legislation failed to get the 60 votes needed to pass the US Senate.  What bothered me greatly, was the speed at which these bills were slammed upon us.  Yet not one vote for any form of improvement for Mental Health.  While the knee jerk reaction was to come with new bans, I have yet to hear of any good plans for MH improvements, nor has there been any in many years.

As some one who works with Veterans who suffer from PTSD, and other Mental Health issues, were it not for the VA they would most likely get no care at all.  I feel for the First responders (EMS, Police, and Fire) who also suffer, but due to macho thought mentality have to suck it up.  How many of them end up taking their own life, or have spouse abuse, divorce, or suicides.

Yet the drum beat to gun control went on full steam, yet no drum beats for those who need it most.

Couldn't agree more about our first responders. The things my brother who is a 20+ year peramedic tells me about are so horrific. I know he is haunted everyday.

Without the second amendment all the rest will be lost.

The thing that really gets to me is that all of these laws are being proposed so that something like this can never happen to the children again.

Yet - not one single law would have stopped the Newtown incident or would help prevent a similar future one.

To add to the hypocrisy, everyone knows exactly what would stop this from EVER happening again.  I'll give you a hint.

What do all of these have in common?

President
Congressmen
Jewelry stores
Banks
Government buildings
Courts
etc.

ARMED GUARDS.

What do schools have?

A cute little sign that says "no weapons allowed"

Todays hypocricy:  Immigration reform may have to get a tougher look according to one Senator, but our favorite NY anti gun Senator C. Schumer  says we should not hold it up.  Senator from Vermont states that if we changed the laws every time something happens we never get anyhting done....WTF, you propose how many bills after newton, but you don't want to do anything after a terrorist attack?  Is it me, or are these folsk on something?
