Bill Sikora sent in this DIY project.
So I decided to add a second paddle keeper to my Wilderness Systems Ride 115. There was one factory installed on the one side, but I wanted that one for my YakAttack Park N' Pole. Here is what I did to keep drilling to one hole:

First, I measured the distance between the two screws holding the handle on, and it measured 7.5", however this may vary with regard to different kayak models. I then cut a piece of bungee approximately 11.5" so I could fold each end, use some electrical tape to hold it's shape, then added some thread to hold the loops tighter, then used heat shrink tubing to permanently holds the loops on each end.

The finished product was a 7.5" piece of bungee with a looped end on each side. I then removed each screw one at a time, passed the screw through the loop, help the loop facing up towards the cockpit, and re-tightened each screw.

By holding the loops up towards the cockpit, this allowed it to be easier to bring over the paddle shaft. I then added a bungee button that I purchased at HOOK1 on the rail of the cockpit with a well-nut, however I would recommend a nut and washer if you have access to the inside. FInally, I added a small piece of Silent Traction to silence the paddle resting. I am very happy with the finished product and it works terrific for my needs. Tight Lines!

The activist is not the man who says the river is dirty. The activist is the man who cleans up the river.
