I've use to pick clams out of the AR back in the day. We usually only got them in the spring. Great with pasta but lots of work.

This just in from the OEHHA (I sent them an email).
Well my first thought was "I eat them, I hope they're safe." Then I thought I'd go back and check the official guidance.

Yup!  And since I'm old I get to eat 7 servings a week.

Lets eat those clams into extinction!

Wow, first time I've seen that.  I just went by word of mouth from the locals and gut feeling that it's not safe to eat.  I did try eating them once and they are greaaatttt!   Just pour hot water on them and they will open up.  Dip it in lemon and butter.

They taste amazing!

I made them in two different ways!

I will post both recipes after I eat ;) I wish you could all smell how good they smell and taste!

So Lapulapu, thanks for pushing me to learn something new!
I saw Hmong (?) collecting these by the laundry basket load near Cliff House (rio vista). At low-ish tide you can walk out on the shallow bank there and grab em with yer toes!

Lets eat!  Pasta vongole for everybody!
