SPRING BREAK ROAD TRIP -- DaveTheSynthGuy is headed north with his hobie.  (idiot that he is)  I've had more than enough of L.A.!!

This is going to be an insane trip but I've got the hobie loaded on top of the black Prius and I'm headed NORTH after church tomorrow at noon. (I'm the organist/choir director).  Taking 5 to 580, dropping of daughter at Berkeley, and continuing north on 101 as far as I can, safely.  Maybe I will get to Arcata at 2 or 3 in the morning, probably not.

I plan to fish maybe Tuesday morning in Freshwater Lagoon, maybe Thursday or Friday there too.  I'd love to hookup with anyone on those days.  (going to be in Sacramento on Wed, so fishing is out.)  Not sure if anything else is going up in the area but I'm always up to learn something new.

I'm trying to figure out some way to spend a little time at Shelter Cove with Eric and others on Saturday morning, but I have to get back to LA on Saturday night ... cause I have to be at church again next Sunday.  (oh yea).

BUT -- if you see the black prius with the yellow hobie on 101 or 5, honk.  It's me. LOOKOUT, I'm driving North tomorrow!   :smt006

btw -- here's my attempt to discourage (slow down) anyone who might want to grab my kayak off my car while I'm at the gas station or elsewhere.

Detonate the reality bomb.

I've been out a grand total of 1 time since Jan 1.  TOO MUCH WORK.  Dave needs a spring break ... We should totally try to make a trip down here. ---  I was OTW (on a yacht) last Sunday out of Redondo, dispersing ashes at sea of a good friend and saw some of the regular SoCal guys OTW fishing the Redondo Canyon.  I need to fish more.  Let's fix that when I get back!   :smt004

dbradfield, I live in Eureka and was hoping to get up to the lagoons some time this week. I am not sure what day though. Not sure if I would have anything to teach you, it's pretty basic fishing (trout), floating night crawlers/eggs/power bait off of bottom, trolling Cleo's, Rapala's and even ford fender's. I haven't been to Freshwater in two weeks the fish were very shallow and nice size 14-17" and deep. I was at Big Lagoon last week and caught two juvenile steelhead about 13" to 14" and one cut throat about 12". Give me a call my name is Jeremy (707)845-3268 and hopefully we can get you a few fish.

Big Buoy  (Jeremy) --  Will call ....  and pm my cell number to you. ..... outstanding!  I've never fished big lagoon.  I fished Stone once and got skunked.  I've had fairly good luck getting the stockers in Freshwater Lagoon.  --

--  I am a maniac.  I made it up today.  I played 2 services Easter Sunday morning in Redondo Beach (LA), left right after church, dropped my daughter off at UC Berkeley, kept heading north, and made it to Arcata by 12:30 am. --  Will sleep in tomorrow but surface around noon .. might even try fishing in the afternoon.
