I just got a Tarpon 120 with rudder today. I am new to Kayak fishing but I have owned a entry level sit in kayak for a couple years. I spent a little more money to get the latest seat model. I was leaning towards a OK Trident 13 until I sat in them. The seat changed my mind. Now I have to figure out how to gear it up. I want a fish finder, but beyond that I don't really know what gear is worth adding. At this point I plan to fish the Delta and Lake Berryessa. Any suggestions? Ken

WTG Ken.  I would suggest you make a couple of fishing trips and get comfy with the new yak before worrying about rigging it up.  That way you know how far you want to reach for something comfortably.

It took me months to rig mine up the way I wanted it and I'm still messing with the placement of the FF.

Good Luck!  Bret

That makes sense. What gear have you added that really works for you. Ken

Congrats on the 120. You are right about the seat. Best stock seat I have seen. The 2013 seat is great. The slide trax give you some options on rigging. I still drilled holes in my Ride and will drill my new on the way Tarpon 160 when it gets here. I will use the slide trax on the Tarpon a little.  Take your time figuring out where you want to place rod holder, FF, etc. Enjoy, Rob

Trail, welcome to the WS family. I agree that the seat in a Tarpon is the best. I have to agree with the posts about taking it out and get comfy with your toy. I have utilized the trax system to avoid drilling holes. That trax system is simple and convenient. I'm very simple and plain so my rod holder and FF are connected to my trax. My other gear is in my crate.
Go to Mad Frog, Scotty and Hook One to look for equipment for the trax.

Side note, I fish lakes and reservoirs for bass, crappie and blue gills. No ocean or rivers. my local lake has trees so I have to be compact and be able to turn in tight spots that is why I have the T100. Enjoy your Tarpon.

Well I got a Humminbird 581 HD DI Combo fish finder and a sideboard with transducer arm to mount it on. I figure this will let me use it without drilling holes while I learn what I want. The boat came with a rod holder on a slide trax mount so I guess that will get me started.
