Wife wants a two sweater we can use in Truckee and I want something I can AB dive from two or three times a year. Anyone have an opinion on the Equinox 12.0T yak?  Thanks.

So long as it's a sit on top, it will work.  If it's not a sit on top DO NOT bring it in the ocean.  All the rest is a matter of comfort and preference.  Inside storage is a giant plus on an ocean kayak because you can stow all your gear and if you get rolled going in or out you won't lose anything.

No dude, better save your money and go buy a used kayak at Headwaters swap next month.

Since you asked for opinions,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Get 2 yaks, you'll both be happier

On that particular yak, just from looking at the picture, it looks like it'd be a nice one for tooling around a calm lake with the wife.  12 ft by 34 inch and 70-80 pounds is a hefty package solo. Also just from the pic it looks like it might not paddle well at all solo (especially in the ocean) with the rear seat being so far back and the front so far forward.

My girlfriend went out twice in tandems, NEVER again!!  She still paddles the little 9 footer we got at costco, I have a trident 13, with that all important below deck storage.

If cost is the issue pick up a couple used ones, get cash in hand and be ready to jump when you see a deal.

Now with all that said there are a couple on the site that put in some considerable time solo in a tandem, maybe they'll chime in.

I would save your money. The only tandems that paddle just as well solo are the Hobie kona, ocean kayak Malibu two XL and the Jackson big tuna IMHO. I would look around for a used kayak first. And if you can swing it with her get two. I always ask people looking for tandems if they ride a tandem bike. If the answer is no, then your not going to be happy in a tandem kayak.
