Where ya headed and from where? I remember the days when we just went. No worries about permits or anything.
Here is a pic of THE dumbest thing I ever did. It is a pic of Horsetail Falls. Only this is looking straight down the falls. Look closely at the bottom of the pic and you can see my boots. I walked into the middle of the falls, got at the edge and took a pic. I thought it would make a cool pic, of course not calculating the obvious dangers. What can I say, I was 19 at the time.
Wish I had the time to go. It is a beautiful area. If you have never been don't miss this opportunity.

You should have a great time hiking and fishing.  Please be sure to post a report.  Have fun.

Attached is a brook trout from one of the lakes up there.

I'm already headed up that way this coming weekend.  Already got my permits.  I'll be in the Lyons lake area.  I'll be bringing the fly fishing gear and no Yak.  I'll post a short report when I get back.

Where are your permits for?

Mike

I Have packed in small rubber rafts w/ a kayak paddle, it allows you to cover more water. Troll a small lake troll or dodger with a threaded nitecrawler. Kastmasters and panther martins work well too.

We will spend our first night in the Aloha zone, maybe hit gillmore lake on the 3rd day.  I have been to desolation a few times last year and the year before, awesome place for sure.  I have a 'trail raft' from sevylor that i bring; weighs 3 lbs and really opens up the opportunites for fishing up there.
