I decided to give Collins Lake a go today since the weather up here had a couple warm days I wanted to take advantage of. The many trout plants seemed to have everyone hooking up from the shore and OTW. Personally I never caught a trout off my yak at Collins the many times i've been there, but while trolling from place to place looking for bass, I was able to hook a 13" trout in the middle of the lake using a Rapala Ultra Light Crank in trout pattern in about 8 FOW. The spot bite was on in the afternoon, I hooked up on almost 10 casts in a row in the east side of the northern arm leading up to the bridge using a 4" Lunkerhunt Bento bait on a shakey head. None were more than 13-15" in length but they were FAT and heavy with eggs. Today was probably the best day I had on Collins.

I fished Collins in a PB that same day. Were you on the  Hobie Outback? Anyway I caught 3 trout on a dodger rapala combo and 3 bass worming along the east side. It was my first time worming along the bottom for bass but it was pretty cool. The lake is just starting to turn on! Im a local I live 10 mins from Collins if you ever want some company let me know.
