I can't make it this weekend, but have it penciled in for next Saturday (March 9th)...a few of us North Valley guys were shooting for that date.

+1
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

I would likely be heading up Friday evening and staying with my younger brother in Chico (who has yet to be informed of this plan... :smt001) then get up early and drive the last 1-2 hour stretch arriving in Chester hopefully by 6 or 7 am. Still need to figure out where to launch/ target area of the lake. I need to leave sat evening so i can be home to meet the fiances father, so i cant hang too long in Almanor. I would recommend cedar lodge in Chester if you need a place to crash Friday or sat night. I will ask my brother about accommodating an NCKA member or two and see what he thinks...

I have my gear and am ready to go except my racks broke a couple weeks ago.  Good news is Thule, thanks to Pacific Outfitters, is replacing everything including my hullivator. As soon as I get my racks back its game on.  Hopefully the trout are still biting .

Interestingly enough, I will be unable to fish this weekend because I'll be out of the area.  However, I will definitely be around the following weekend (March 9) because my brother's coming up to visit and he recently bought a new kayak.  Weather's supposed to be absolutely GORGEOUS this weekend though: possible 60+ degree days coming up!

From the time I've been on the lake and from what I've heard from other anglers, there seems to be at least a few fish just about anywhere you go.  Mostly brown trout in the open water, and rainbows are starting to congregate around the tributary mouths in preparation for spawning.  The east basin seems (IMO) to be fishing a little bit better than the west, but things can change day to day up here.

I can't make it this weekend, but have it penciled in for next Saturday (March 9th)...a few of us North Valley guys were shooting for that date.
I'll be around!
