I was thinking of hitting up Collins lake on Monday, I havent been there since I was a kid.  I know the lake planted a bunch of trout this weekend and their website has some pictures of some people catching some fat fish earlier in the week.  I have no clue where to launch, anybody with some tips/info would be greatly appreciated.

I always launch at the dam. Paddle in front to the backside of the dam. Hang a left and continue till you hit the other bank and continue left. It gets shallow over there. Start a long left turn and head back to the dam staying about 200 feet from shore all the way back to where you launched. Turn around and do it again. Most fish I catch are on the east side of the dam in that little corner area. I drag micro flashers and a crawler on one side and a dodger and some small spoon on the other. Or the opposite side I run a count down Rapala . I very rarely fish any other part of the lake. I usually catch more than my share at that lake. Always try to CPR when I can.

Thanks for the quick response Rob.  I am gonna have the GF with me, not sure how much distance she will be able to cover paddling, (first time on a yak) do people have much luck with power bait?

i did well trolling rapalas a couple weeks ago, and like rob said the east end gets shallow but there are some boat docks there and every time i made a turn through them i hooked up.. if you fish bait i would try around those docks or right in front of swimming beach outside of casting distance of the bankies  those planters seem to hang out there for a bit.. You'll have a blast.. power bait or crawlers
