Hey Guys,

I'm taking my wife to a baby shower (which I will not be attending =]) in Gualala this weekend. Does anyone know of a launch point nearby where I can do some crabbing? I was going to try Anchor Bay, but it sure would be more helpful if anyone has any real info...

Shell beach at Sea Ranch. It's a nice semi protected cove 5min south of Gualalalala. If your staying at Sea Ranch it's an easy launch, just park in the small lot across from the beach trail and put your parking pass on the rear view. I heard the Sea Ranch cops can be nasty but never had an issue. If your not, you have to park at the state lot near rt 1 and walk the trail 1/2 mile to the launch. It's an easy walk if you have wheels. Although we've a shuttle a few times, actually every time  :smt011 and dropped all gear at the beach trail with a buddy and I drove the truck up to the state lot and jogged down. No issues so far but go early cause the year round residence are watching, do this at your own risk.

Thanks Mike. I'll give it a shot! I'm willing to drive an hour north or south of Gualala, so this works out great.

Shell beach at Sea Ranch.
I drove over there today and there where some sets that came in that broke about 50 yards off shore.  Be careful if you launch there.
If you go to Anchor Bay the best launching area is generally the north end of the beach.
On the north side of the town of Gualala you have Cooks Beach.  I have launched and landed there and it can be real tricky at times.  The path down is suited for shorter yaks as there is a 90 degree turn around a tree you have navigate.  It is best if you have some help here.
