I have a green light from the war department to fish Saturday and was thinking of a Lewiston run. Afraid I'm booked sun/mon.

I'm down for Sunday. Whiskeytown or Shasta is cool. Was thinking about getting my Mary lake on soon with all this sun. Some fat fatty LM and Crappie in there.

Hi Ben, Saturday is a no go for me as I have a school function to attend to and Sunday looks like the best wx. Best of luck if you go to Lewiston. I have not fished there from a yak. Sounds like fun. As far as Lake Mary...I have been here a while and have never seen it. Isn't it a small pond on the east side surrounded by houses? Not to be a snob.... but I need wide open space. :smt001

I am even considering running up to Lake Alamanor...however, Clay mentioned wind coming. Wind+cold= numb parts.

Roger that, I'll let you know how we do. If it goes well I might run back up with the kiddies Monday.

I've pulled in a few dandy LMB outta Mary as well, but not any crappie, sounds fun (and nice and close!).

At Mary Lake the only houses that are really visible are the few to the East. The South, West and North is so treed in that you don't really see them. It is a few acres, which is just a smallish pond. I grew up fishing small ponds along with the large lakes here. Anderson river park,  Kapusta pits, shea (back when you could), shopko pond, clear creek ponds, mary lake,  and many, many private mudholes so i love it. Mary just seems to be the one that warms up first.

I like the wide open spaces and big water too though.

Just reading those spots makes me smile! I was born and raised in Redding, in Vacaville now, and when I go back to visit my folks I love to think about all my old fishing holes...shopko pond, CLASSIC!!! I would love to bring my kayak up and hit some of those with you sometime, new to the site and kayaking.  -Matt

Matt-
Just post when your coming and fit in a couple hours for fishing time. I have an extra yak if it would be too much of a hassle to load yours. I always felt like a weirdo carrying a yak down to the shopko pond but i have caught some really  decent bass out of there.
