Hola folks, I am one of the new guys with a Outback. Everybody see the video of the Pro Angler roll over...a couple of times? I just picked up my OutBack and have added a baitwell. Hope to use it alot in Baja.
What can I expect if I roll with a full baitwell?...as compared to no bailwell? Lots of opinions about the video, but nobody mentioned a bait well. Hope to hear some opinions...thanks for past/present/ future help, Ron

Hi Rap!  Welcome to the madness.  I have an Outback and I have rolled my intentionally in a nice warm lake in order to practice my self rescue in a control environment first.  At least that way you can become familiar with what it takes to get it back upright.  Some guys like to go over the top to flip it back over but I found it is easier for me to flip my Outback by grabbing the opposite handle underneath and pulling to flip it back upright.  I just seem to use less energy in the process.  Then work your way up to more extreme situations.  I think most of the guys here will agree that it is important to practice getting back in your kayak under the conditions you plan on using the yak in.  With that being said, if you plan on using your bait tank you might want to practice you self rescue with it.  I have never practiced with a full bait tank but I'm pretty sure it would be more difficult to flip your yak back over with it on and full than off.
Practice, practice, practice.  That way you can remain calm and burn less energy getting back in you kayak.

Quick release on the tank would be your best bet I use sturdy bungy cords, Able to release with one hand and can be done if I were too flip and cant flip that yak back over. You may loose the tank this
way but better then your life. Obviously try and flip the yak back first if safe to do so....
