My son Eric and I arrived at Willow Creek around 6:15am. We met a very friendly mom, dad, son fishing team at the ramp.
Unloaded the kayaks, loaded our gear to get ready. Tami and Jeff from CCK, then Rickey arrived early. BrianG arrived a little while after that. Total of 6 fishing contestants. We paid our fees and hit the water. The lake was flat with fish rolling around in the cove. Looked promising. We hit the water around 6:45am, I was off the lake around 12:30, Eric stayed out 'till 1:30. I got no fish love here again, not a hit or a bite. Eric got the same. The dad and son team caught a fish each and won first and second place prizes with a LMB and a SMB.

The nice folks from CCK cooked a great bbq lunch and provided ice cold drinks. We then had a raffle for other prizes. With only six contestants, we had a good chance to win something. First ticket pulled was for the Emotion 14' Fisherman kayak with hatches and rudder system.

Number called and...Eric won! He was (and still is) sooo excited...me too! :smt001 :smt001 Good thing I threw an extra set of straps in the truck.

The dad won a nice graphite paddle, Brian won a large dry bag and I won one of those new Scotty flush mounts. The CCK folks even gave the other two people hats and tee-shirts. We all won something.

Eric and I would like to thank CCK for hosting this derby on our local waters. We had a great time.

Here's a few pics:

ahhh! that must be it!  I'll give it a try next time.  Thanks.

Went back to Natoma today for the CCK demo day. Good turnout, lots of kayaks to test drive.
Took a couple sea kayaks SIK for a test drive...smooth rides. The Hobie was a good ride too.

New trailer...hhmmmm... I've been thinking about that, but it will have to wait. I have two kids to put through college. Might have to sell off some of our fleet. Running out of storage space with 7 kayaks.

Need to get a seat for his new ride. I might upgrade mine and give him the one I use now.
