Not from any type of vessel.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Should be open year round I think, don't ever remember it being seasonal.only thing is certain time of year there are ticks
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Igor do not go to Nicasio to fish. You will be disappointed. No kayaks or boats at all. There used to be a salmon hatchery at the base of the dam though. A long time ago. Lake Sonoma would be a better fit for you.

Thank you.
I need to entertain my father in-law - he did not get any bite at SPD and I'm looking for shore options :)

It you want to bank it you can go hit Bon Tempe, Phoenix lake, Lagunitas, or Alpine up above Fairfax. You used to be able to call the sky oaks ranger station and get info on what was stocked last. Bon Tempe is usually the best bet but the others can be good too.

Nicasio can and should be fishing extremely well right now through the full moon. Warming stable weather is better but that coastal moisture can be beneficial as well. Keep it simple.  Brushhogs rigged Weightless or Texas slider or Carolina Pumpkin if slightly stained to clearer to junebug if more stained. A crawfish speed trap or chatter bait will turn fish on and help you find em too but dead sticking is usually the trick. I've done well gently ticking brass n glass here. Most importantly don't forget OFF! Some of the worst tick infestation I've encountered but there must have been some reason I stayed around? Alpine may be my recommendation of choice. The area is very beautiful the smallies can take the shape of cattle and there are bruisers in there. You could always target planted trout in the other lake but then you'd be fishing for planted trout when youd be better off mowing your lawn or making a lady in your life happy so that you could get out and do some real fishing soon.  Go natural and slow in alpine but don't forget your jerk bait. When they are hitting them they don't seem to be too discerning. Have fun tube baits the color of the bottom and I guarantee it!

My brother's fished Nicasio a few times.  He always mentions the TICKS and how terrible they are.  First time he fished there, he said he came home with 5 ticks stuck on him.  The next time, he said he could actually see the ticks crawling across the ground towards him.  They're thick as thieves around there it seems.  He's done pretty well on bass in there using Senkos, but he said the ticks are so fierce it's almost not even worth fishing there.
