I was curious if it was legal to catch and release rockfish in the off season if you are in shallow water. And if not maybe get some opinions on what if i was "halibut" fishing and just kept catchin rockies by mistake... knowledge and thoughts would be appreciated.w

If by shallow, you mean shore, then yes!

And if not maybe get some opinions on what if i was "halibut" fishing and just kept catchin rockies by mistake... knowledge and thoughts would be appreciated.

Not to be a jerk, but the quotations around halibut makes me question your ethics.

Ultimately, if you're caught, the DFW officer would make a judgement call based on what's attached to the end of your line and whether you were really "halibut" fishing or if "catchin rockies by mistake" was legit.

Lol yea that was a bit uncalled for but if you would like a more detailed question then here you go. The reason i ask about the halibut and rockies is because of where i like to fish for halibut. I fish the edge of a shale bed for halibut and i catch alot of rock fish by mistake while throwin the big hammer around. Well that's why i asked the question but thanks for the rude remark anyways....
