had some time off and couldn't dive soooo....

The ocean was angry while I was on vacation and while I did manage to get one dive in with Flipper I spent most of my time cleaning my garage, office and equipment room.  Once the garage was clean I decided to get the hot rod running.

I've had the 67 Buick GS, California special for about 6 years now and I've completely modified the drive train.  Originally a 340ci with a two speed transmission, this beast now has a 383ci stroker with a T400 trani and 4:10 rear end.  480 hp at the rear wheels, it's all low end torque and this baby loves to run.

3 years ago I noticed a ticking sound and tracked it down to a bent flex plate that was hitting the starter gear.  I replaced the flex plate and the guy at the speed shop upsold me on this starter that was supposed to be way better than the Summitt mini starter.  At three times the price, I hoped so.  I put the new starter in and on initial start up it made a grinding sound.  I took the shims out and everything was good.  Went out to get gas, wash the car, put air in the tires etc. and as I tried to leave the gas station the car wouldn't start.  Nothing!  I had to let the starter cool down to start the car.  Not happy!  I went home and took the POS starter out and that's when I saw the chipped teeth on my brand new flex plate.  And that's where it sat.

Fast forward to Christmas 2012 and me with two weeks off adn no ocean to dive in so I spent some of my Christmas loot on a new flex plate and Summitt mini starter.  Viola!!
