  What the hell happened to that one that was patched?  Thats a pretty big patch! For $450 though I guess it's not a huge invenstment for both?

That patch looks close to a foot long!  Last time I saw a kayak with that large of a hole, it was an outdoor display for a local kayak shop. :smt012

that patch ain't nothing but some plastic welding over the serial number cutout on a warranty return.  I'm sure its watertight as a bullfrog's azz
