Anyone know where I can find a decent selection of deep cycle batteries. The local Walmart and AutoZone each have one old 24 category of the house brand in stock. I was looking for a bit more selection. I know I can order some online but I would rather not pay shipping on a 50lb battery!

Thanks in advance as always.
Phil

I get mine at Costco, but I think they only carry one size.

Cell Energy or another company like it would be your best bet.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

West Marine used to have a pretty good selection but pricey or Interstate

West Marine carries starting, dual-purpose and deep cycle in addition to gel cell and agm.  Go agm if you want a great battery.  They are house brand BUT they are made by a great company for them; Deka.  Just my 2cents after 10 years of working for them....

Look for another Walmart.............I buy my deep cycle batteries from them, they only have group 24 and 29 here but they are two year free warranty, all of the ones I bought have been fresh too.

Don't forget about 4X4 shops.  Although may end up paying alot more, most should carry Optima red& yellow top (yellow deep cycle dry cell batteries)

Optima's are AGM, Absorbed Glass Mat. They are not dry. They are sealed though. Same technology as the small 7ah batteries a lot of us use for our FF. I use them in my race car. Two in my car.

Look into who is actually manufacturing the battery brand, from what I recall there are only three mfg's, East Penn, Johnson Controls and can't remember the third mighta been interstate.

I'm using east penn batteries in my truck, just replaced my first set after 6 years of abuse.  The original brand was car care but replaced them with cheaper batteries from oreily/kragen and it's the exact same battery.  They're also making deka and a bunch other house batteries for chain stores and auto parts stores.  No matter the brand be sure to ask for the east penn or us made batteries specifically and check for a made in USA sticker.

I have optima blue tops in my boat, good batteries made by Johnson controls.  Pricey but I needed them mounted horizontally.

go with the yellow top Optima; I purchased mine online from Quadratec.com $179 (normally $229 at 4wheelparts), no tax plus free shipping..

Check out www.rv.net
They are an RV forum site and probably are very knowledgeable on deep cycle batteries.  I went with Trojan brand because of the discussions on that site.
