Scotty Slip Discs #415 work great.  Allows for micro adjustment of your rod holder. Its solid and doesn't move.

Not a big fan of the Offset Gears #414.  I say just go with Slip Discs.

the gears on the the scotty rod holders drive me f'n crazy... you can never get them where you want them... those look cool.  Looking at them makes me wonder is just a piece of rubber gasket material or something would work just as well... anyway, good find!

Wow. I never knew such a thing was out there. I hate how far out you have to unscrew and back to make adjustment.  :smt012

How much do you have to crank down on the slip disks so they don't move?  Are they plastic?

They are soft plastic.  I put my rod holder between my legs then pushed and pulled on it, wouldn't budge.  I just used regular pressure on tightening the knob. I am going to field test it soon.
