My new P15 with Humminbird 565 rigged up

Well I got my 06 prowler 15 from JSelli on Monday and today my Humminbird Fishfinder 565 came in from Cabela's so I went and rigged up. The fishfinder has so much detail it blows my mind. I can't wait to get it out and see it on the water. It has so many features you even have to choose if you are in fresh or saltwater so it can make some kind of correction. It is a dual beam which is the reason I bought this model. I liked my humminbird piranahamax15 and wanted to stay in the company but needed an upgrade for the new boat. Unfortunately it also costs an arm and a leg.

Thanks to Mooch for many ideas (I've been lurking through your thread ) on how to rig it up.

I guess I'll post pics of the rest of the work when the rod holders and what not come in. One day (hopefully soon) I will put a rudder on it and I'll post that up too.

Step #2 should be to move that rear handle all the way to the back. The factory placement is a great way to give yourself a nice ACL injury

when I first got my P15 (exactly the same one) I thought the same thing with that handle. Theres really no other place to put it. Especially if you plan to add a rudder .

You don't really need a rudder on that boat.

I think they changed the design because mine has a nice little hole in the back and I just flopped mine around. I looked at jselli's boat and he didn't have the same setup as mine.

If you don't move it back people are less likely to help you carry your boat 

I guess I'll just have to carry the back then because I wanted a rudder even though I do know it has only a couple limited uses. I plan to do some trolling and so I'd really like to be able to balance my drag.

Nice ride! For safety reasons, I suggest you slap a few high - visibilty stickers on your hull. Or maybe get a bike flag. Or even get a paddle with a bright orange blade. I was paddling with John/jdyak at Tahoe this weekend - he has a green P15, and I could not see him cause he was blending in with shoreline BUT I did see his orange paddle when he was moving about. IMO: Gotta stay visible 

They sell the bicycle flags at Sportmart for $5.00.

Hmm, another good idea. Thanks. I was thinking of putting some floats on my net so perhaps I could put a brightly colored pool noodle around it. That'd stick out pretty well.

where might an ignorant person (like myself) find Mooch's thread (about mounting the Humminbird 565) that gatohoser spoke of.  It isn't the article that scwafish has posted on the front page is it?

I was referring to Mooch's arrangement, not a particular guide on how to install a fishfinder. Mooch's thread can be found in this same section a few threads around this one. As to how to install a fishfinder I'm sure somebody can point you to a good thread but I just did searches on Yahoo! to find a guide. For now try typing kayak fish finder installation guide. Make sure you read a ton before you finally do it because the placement is usually permanent.
