For a variety of reasons, I haven't been able to go fishing in about 5 weeks. Today, I was hoping to launch at the SC harbor but, as usual, some last minute stuff came up and I wasn't able to go.

Ironically, it ended up that I had to go to Santa Cruz. So I stopped by the harbor at about 10am. I scanned the horizon with my binoculars, but didn't see anybody fishing. About an hour later, I was near New Brighton and, of course, I stopped and took a look around there too. Again, I didn't see anybody fishing. At the harbor, there was a bit of chop on the water, while at New Brighton, the conditions were near perfect.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but why no fishermen (or fisherwomen) this time of year? Here are my guesses as to possible answers...

a) The fish are not biting
b) The glamorous fish are out of season and/or not cooperating
c) "Sharktober" scared everybody away
d) Crabs!
e) Everybody is sick and tired of fishing (just kidding...)
f) Nobody has any more sick leave to use
g) All of the above
h) None of the above

I think that lots of folks have been busy chasing seabass and crabs.
