Hey Mike
Thanks for the offer as I might just have to get up there before the 15th. I've been wanting to fish with you.

Raynman,
I'd say welcome but I'm new too, from the peninsula.  Question for you - Tom Stienstra call's sturgeon triangle 'china beach - buoy 5 - pumphouse'.  I can't find a map/chart that locates the buoys / pumphouse.   How can I figure out where that is ... and what's the best launch point?
  Many thanks,
Shorebreak

China beach is in China camp state park and is a great place to launch. No cart necessary. Take the central San Rafael exit and turn East on 2nd st.It  will turn into Pt San Pedro rd. You will pass McNears Marin country park at about the 4 mile mark. China Camp Village will be about a mile further.  The pump house platform is due north from the launch. It is called a platform on maps and shows the pipeline trench going west to the shore. It was originally where ships would supply jet fuel to Hamilton AFB. Rat rock is also a good place to fish. It will be North of the launch and so close you could it it with a rock. Stop at Loch Lomond Bait shop for a wide assortment of fresh and frozen bait. It is about half way to the launch. They will show you the map and tell you where the action has been and how to get there. Owner Kieth Frasier is the godfather of sturgeon fishing and very helpful. It is who Tom Stienstra go's with. We look forward to your postings about your experience.
