Went up to Fort Bragg this weekend with the family and stayed at the Beach Comber Inn (Wife won't camp). Saturday morning got up and quietly left the room while everyone else was sound asleep. Got to Van Damme while it was still dark out and watched the sunrise to beautiful, calm, lake like conditions.  :smt001

Geared up an entered the water at low tide at 7:50 AM for a solo shore dive. Vis was about 8 to 10 feet and the low tide was around 3 ft.

Saw a bunch of short abs and dozens of smaller legal abs. I swam out to one of my usual spots and I ended the day with two 8 inch and one 8.5 inch abs.

Exited the water an hour and a half later and was still the only person in the parking lot. It was a beautiful, tranquil dive and an awesome way to start the day.

Man,,,,You're killin me, I made the trek to FB/VD for 25 years in a row without missing a season, if I don't make it later this year it will be 2 yrs in a row I've missed it.  How could that happen, am I gettin old?

I'm glad you got to experience it on such a beautiful day, all told Van Damme is one of the best locations on the Ca. coast for fishers n divers.

Thanks for the pics and report,,,,,,,,,

Dale,
That's what you said last time  :smt003
You have 3-1/2 weeks left before it's 2 years in a row. I will hopefully be back a couple more times before the season closes. Hopefully you can make it up there again soon.

Ok, it made me laugh.
Nothing better than having that access, those conditions and that solitude.
I wish I had it this past weekend.
Thanks for the report.
When do you plan on going again?
