I only used the Hero2 around the house for a few days so I won't have much comparison. A few things I noticed on the 3.

1. Wow this is small (and light)
2. Case has a "double" latch.
3. It uses a MicroSD card (vs standard SD)
4. No user manual in the box
5. No head strap in the "helmet" version (just the sticky mounts)
6. You need to do a update as soon as you get it opened

I will shot some vid when the lighting is better
