I am leaning towards the compact Kenmore 16922.  Any thoughts?

I agree on the frost free and the temp changes. Even if you don't get freezer burn, the quality of whatever is frozen will be better without having the temp changes. To counter act this, I put some thick cardboard on the sides of my freezer. I was told that is where the thawing action comes from.

I bought the Kenmore 16922 a little over a month ago. So far I am very happy with this model. It got the best reviews of the smaller units. So far very little frost has built up and I don't expect to defrost it more than once a year, if that. It comes with two  basket trays that slide across the top for easy access to the bottom. I paid $299. plus tax at Kmart. Normally it goes for a little over $400 I think. Hope you catch em on sale !

I have one, have not defrosted it in the 3 years I have had it. Been really good freezer. Too small when you kill an elk, but for CA hunting and fishing, it is the perfect size. Maybe if you teach me to hook, and land a WSB, I may need to upgrade to a big freezer, but for now it works fine.
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.
