I confirmed yesterday that a friend watched a GWS consume a sea lion off of Long Marine Lab, near Natural Bridges. The attack was viewed through a spyglass on the cliff and occurred near the yellow buoy.

having fished the exact area myself I thought I should pass the info along.

Yup.  I would stay away from the kelp lines and in close where the gws like to hunt seals. Thanks for the info bro.

Would be nice if we have more tagged GWS sharks in this area for data collection and 'Shark NET' tracking.

yeah, it was between the yellow buoy and the kelp line. I seem to recall back when I had a FF on my yak I did some drifts in that exact spot and the bottom is a nice rubble that drops off pretty quick.

I fished it in August on a nice paddle up from the harbor, and I got the willies big time. Now I know why!

Last time I solo fished off the mile buoy, a "blob" kept setting my ff off at 8 ft under me. I had been still for quite some time after WSB, and I never saw anything surface, sea lions usually show up like a horizontal log of pixels on my humminbird when I see them diving under me. The frequency of the blob kept increasing like I was being circled, and first thought was drive-bys, and I couldn't stand it anymore so I started to paddle and dropped all four lines in the water for whatever that would do and the blob went away.

Funny. That exact same thing happened to me at Timber Cove on Saturday.

I think we are getting sussed out more than we are aware of. Honestly, I'm kinda loosing my nerve.

Once bitten twice shy. Nearly cost me an arm and a leg.......literally!

Yeah, once at TC I've seen the exact shape of a GWS go under my yak and told myself it wa just a baitball.

Saturday morning I was in the middle of either a baitball or a big school of RF in 60 feet and my FF blacked out and read 16 feet a few times, like Diroblo mentioned. I told myself it was just a thick school of fish.

But the worst one was Saturday right before the wind picked up. There was no structure showing and no blob on the screen but all of a sudden my FF depth reading went from 102 to 90 to 76 to 68 to 44 to 20 then back to 102. Shortly after that the wind picked up and I didn't mind going in early.

hey dustin, was this off the north point of timber, because i swear something big made a huge 180 splash turn off my port, kept telling myself it was a swell breaking, but pretty sure i saw shape and color, and there were no seals around that morning, but didnt get that primal hair raise like the last time a saw the landlord, cameron
