Chef... sorry to be bearer of bad news, but I heard that salmon fishing in Monterey Bay is temporarily closed for Monday and Tuesday (6/12-6/13).  I'm not sure exactly why, but it sounds like another bone-head DFG move to me.  You can also read about it on Coastside....

I am pretty sure salmon is NOT closed in monterey bay. The closure is from Point Arena (Mendocino county) to Pigeon Point (San Mateo County). So the bay is open...

Yeah, it's killing me up here in Bodega.  The ocean looks like a lake today (first time all year really) and coastside reports that the salmon are pretty close.  I got all excited to go out today or tomorrow while the seas are calm only to remember the season is closed both days.  Hopefully, the weather will stay calm for Wednesday.

Salmon is closed again from Point Arena to Pigeon Point on July 10 and 11.  That's the only remaining temporary closure for Bodega and fisheries south.

North of Point Arena to Horse Mountain/Humboldt Bay (including Ft. Bragg), season is closed on June 19, 20, 26, 27; July 10-14, 17-21, 24, 25, and then open straight from July 26 until Nov 12 season end.

Monterey and Moss season (south of Pigeon Pt) is open until Sept 24 year-end closure.

The temporary closures were part of the deal the Feds and DFG arrived at to save the sportfishing season.

Seems kinda arbitrary to me!  Nevermind the fact that the Feds are the ones killing the Klamath river (and thus the salmon).  But at least we have a season, so i'm not complaining.
