The seas look gnarly this Sunday looking forward to gettin some stripers at 9th st in Benicia.  I'm thinking a 3-way swivel with about 6in. leader to a 4 oz weight and a 8 in. leader to a snelling hook with some kind of cut-bait....or maybe there's a freakin lure that I can cast and retrieve...any help is appreciated..

lures-spro or anytype of bucktail type of jig with a trailer 1to3oz kastmaster anytype of baitfish pattern swimbait.as far as bait, live bait would be bullheads, pile worms.bloodworms the bigger the better.grass shrimp will work also.anchovies cut up.you can go with the three way but i like to use a slider sinker setup with a 11/2 to 2 ft leader good luck hope this helps
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

hi-lo setup with cut or whole anchovy, grass shrimp, blood or pile worms.

slider with live bullhead or whole anchovy.

Also from my experience 9th street pier is not good spot, but shore spot around the corner is much better

thanks you guys!  I'll bail on the three-way.  How much weight should I put on the end or should I let the bait be the weight?

You mean on the leader?I don't put any weight on it.if your gonna go with the slider set up you want the leader to kinda flow freely in the current.main line weight depends on your line and how fast the water is moving.3-6oz

My favorite spots when I used to fish from shore in Benicia are the park at 14th street during high tide and around the corner at 6th street.  Live bullhead or blood worm works great there.

Use a slider forsure. I'll use up to 3 oz. .... Hi lo works but since I believe live bull heads are the ticket I use a slider preferably. Even with grass, pile or blood u still have a chance for a Dino. Glen cove marina is a great place. If ur facing the channel head to the point on the left side. U can also go under the Benicia bridge. Also Off of Regatta in glen cove there's a antenna on top of a hill. Jus below the antenna there is a point there that is great for stripers. When u walk the shoreline u cant miss it. its pretty popluar spot. Except for the bridge I know there is a nice drop off and holds fish. Also at regatta low tide to incoming is the best IMO.

Tons of schoolies at 9th pier. Fish off the shoreline on the right side towards the cove. U can also hit the state park but there's a fee.

Good luck and tight lines. Go get get em...!
