I'll be launching from the pier in the late morning (I have a conference call until 9:00, I'll head down after).

I'll be monitoring channel 69 and aiming for around 60 feet of water off of 38th avenue -- dragging squid and what bait I find in a frantic search for Senior Flatty.

Off the water around 1:00.  Company is welcome.

I've never launched from SC. What's the deal with the pier? Can I just drive up and unload and how do you get your kayak down? Parking?

BTW I don't think I'll be making it. I installed a fishfinder today and I have to let the goop cure on the transducer.

Hey big Red:

I'm going to play hooky tomorrow morning and go-out.  Lauch at 8:15 or so.  I'll work the area between bombora and Captiola reef (the reef with the red buoy)

I've heard of a few caught in that area lately.  Kayak angler "Rod," or "mysterioso" reportedly did ok there lately.

(Rod fishes a lot at that spot, but he is not on the boards.  Private, serious guy, but he reallycatches fish!)

quick go out for me gotta be at work by noon, so i'll be sticking close and fishing hard.

Aaron- that goop wil be fine, I bet.  Launch is from CAPITOLA pier.  Pull up and dump your stuff on the right hand beach next to the pier, then you have to park the car at the top of the hil above the train tracks and hoof it back down.  I usually carry my rods and paddle from the car.

You can pull all the way out on the wharf and leave your stuff, but i think it takes longer and i have limited time.  I'm launching as soon as I get there,  hope to see you at that time.  otherwise, hail me on 11 or 69 and I'll tell you where i am.

i'll be close to the wahrdf working 30-60 FOW.

maybe tomorrow is the day for 'an alibut!'

if Joel is launching at 9am, maybe we can both have one in the box before he launches.....heeheeehee.

Hmm well I'll wait til another day. I don't want to hold you back and I don't know the beach at all or where any of that stuff is and would probably waste most of the time trying to figure everything out. Besides the GAF account is apparently low so I have to go to the beach with her now.

I am going to try to launch at the cap pier, maybe by 8.   Not being a LTL (Long time local) I had to look in my surf book for Bombora, between the pier and N. Brighton.  I might have met Rod one day at NB, said he fished with ( Mr.) Jan a lot, caught lots of butts in that area, had the world's smallest gaff hook on a ragged piece of bamboo, and a rod and bait, that was it.

Yeah.  I thnk blue kayak would like Rod. Definitely a minimalist. I met him once a few years ago as I was getting out of the water.  He told me his paddle hadn't been broken down for years and was now welded into a one piece.  a kayak a paddle a rod.  And he catches a lot of good fish.  He goes out at the same area all the time and also pretty frequently.

Hey hope to see you catch a big one today, Tom.  I'll call when I get out there.
