GF and I went to Lexington Res, in Santa Clara County.  The weather was nice in the low 70's and the wind was to our backs out of the East.  We paid our entrance fee, parking fee, boat fee, Qugga Fee X2 boats, breathing air in a park fee, for a total of $30.00.  We launched to the left side of the main ramp and then began to paddle along the shore.  GF like to explore every knook and cranny so we went into every inlet to check things out.  Jan spots a good sized crawfish, and goes over to check it out.  Life with a biologist can be interesting, as she proceeds to go over and check out said crawfish and infor me of its sex (male), and ask me why its over there. I seem to recall seeing crawfish all over the place and tell her such,  the little guy is some what disoriented, and she seems to think a bird my have been molesting/trying to eat it.  I spot a bobber by itself on the water and go over and pull it up.  there is still line attached to it, but no one is around.  It has asimpe egg sinke and a hook on the end.  I keep it, got to get my $30 back some how.

We sit back in this little cove and enjoy some Mr. Pickles Sandwiches and some Dirty Brand Chips.  Life is good!  We paddle some more along the shore and I recover another wieghted worm hook, and GF finds a Kastmaster in rough but useable condition.

We paddle into largest cove out there and we are by our selves watching some ducks , when GF tells me to look up.  There circling above me is a large majestic Osprey.  I watch him for a while until he lands on top of a tree.  I can see him plain as day, we watch him for a while and he goes off to do his thing.  Beutiful bird in the wild with no one else around.

We finish our paddle back to shore and I run into 2 more Hobie Users, neither are NCKA members yet, but hopefully that will change.  One guy had a 2 up with his GF, he goes ab diving with his dad, and wants to try Kayak crabbing for dungies.  The other guy had a new Pro Angler 12 fully rigged and had just moved up from down south (boat was new purchased up north).

The Hobie PA 12 looks like it has Archie Bunkers reclining chair in it, that thing was huge and comfy looking!

All in all a great day spending quality time with the GF!

Glad to hear some of us are using Lexington again.  It's been a few years since I've been on it (long before it was closed for the dam modifications)  I used to fish the lake all time with my buddy Dan on his boat and float tubes.
When the water level is up, try going all the way back to the back (South end) it was pretty wooded last time we went back there.

That sounded like some good therapy!

I live in the hills, about 5 minutes from Lexington. I've only been kayaking out there once this year---it's too expensive for me.  Beautiful, yes, but I just can't get over the high cost.
I don't like stuff that sucks.

i wanna hit it once with the kids on the AI this year. Is the water level SUPER low? As in sailing is a waste of time?

Water level is maybe just below 50%. (50% -60% down?)  The Los Gatos rowing club boats are out there everyday, as I commute home to Felton and I saw a small dingy sailing out on the water last week.
