Trust me, it's very important. I got careless one time and didn't put rod float on my rods while bass fishing on that particular day. And on that particular day, I flipped my kayak and lost hundreds of dollars in rods/reels/tackles. Floats are just a piece of pool noodle wrapped around your rods. I did a write up on a modified rod float. Check the kayak gearing section of this forum.

Yeah good point on the paddle leash. I too couldnt find anything on rod floats. Anywhere to get it at the sac area?
