Last weekend was the big annual Tahoe Roadtrip for the Headwaters shops. My Mom and Dad brought up their demo Hobie AI and AI tandem. I was able to Take the Tandem out yesterday afternoon with a long time sailor. We sailed about 4 miles out into the lake. We were smoking sailboats. I was In The front seat for the ride. We were going so fast the the ama was 6" under water most the time. Thank God I was wearing my drysuit because waves were coming over the bow and pounding me in the chest. The was one point that a gust came and almost flipped us, but Marty my pilot turned into the wind to prevent the capsize. I could not believe how fun these things are. Tandem AI are sweet because you can take people for a ride, teach them to sail, or just go out solo. If you get a chance to try one do it! I know Cck in Oakland has some and now my parent at Headwaters in Redding have two. Sailing was the highlight of my weekend for sure.

Man, so many awesome toys out there. Sounds like you had a great time. I wish I had more money, and more time to play with them all!

I agree that they are awesome.  When we went under the Golden Gate Bridge, I was
taking breakers in the face but still moving at a good clip.  I just got the splash guards on, but have yet to get into enough wind to have them work.

You'll love it Craig.  Just ordered the tramps for my AI. You can try mine out the next time we meet.
