The bite up there is killing me.  Anyone want to try a (crazy??) beach launch?

Pt. Reyes has a nasty shore break with a steep beach.Try Drakes Beach or Tomales, its alot safer and you have more options if you cant get out.[IMHO]
Almost drowned there as a kid.We did alot of perch fishing from those beaches.

jnthn,

It's been a long time since I've been at Pt Reyes -1986 or so, and that was for mountain biking back when it was still legal to ride anywhere there were trails.  I couldn't remember where there was car access to the beach. And because I wasn't zooming in enough with the Google tools (Earth, Maps)  I wasn't seeing that it was pavement running by South Beach.

So anyway, I talked to the guy at Riptides and Rapids, and he thinks that South beach might be doable this time of year with the FAC conditions that we've been having, but strongly recommended Drakes Beach if there is any kind of surf. In fact, even if you do get out at South Beach, maybe the plan would be to run shuttle, and return via Drakes Beach.

So, does Sunday work for you ?

Scott
