Nice one sledge, I love yosemite, my wife and i got married in the shadow of yosemite falls and it was a beautiful clear day, and the nights were crystal clear just like those photos.  Unreal.....

back in the 80's I road my mountain bike to that place from my bro's house in oakhurst...Awesome...beautiful place...would love to go there and see the night sky through a scope...there's a few on our site that do that???

My wife and i arent too religious, and we figured if a church is mans tribute to god, than yosemite must be gods tribute to man....

That is what I see every night at my house... weimar is awesome!!!

    Yea Yosemite is beautiful.  Every summer, the park has an astronomy weekend starparty manned by different astronomy clubs.  My club (Sants Cruz Astronomy Club) goes each year.  I've gone to 2 in past years.  The star parties are held at Glacier point, ( As seen in the video)  Clubs get to camp and park entry free for those with telescopes to set up. 
   Nothing beats the dark skies at 7200' there on Glaicer point! I recall my second trip up with my 20" scope.  There were probably close to 300 people from all different walks of life visiting Glaicer point that night.  I had a line of folks 20 people deep waiting to view through my scope.  Our club had maybe 8-10 scopes set up that night.
  I can't wait for things to start settling back down so I can get back up there!  (Maybe next summer?)
If any of you go to Yosemite, be sure to ask about the summer astronomy star parties at Glaicer point!
